Each year, the IRSV hosts a Women In Industrial Relations Event.

All are welcome! This is one of our most popular events and will be hosted after work hours on Thursday, 6 June 2024.

This year, we are discussing:

Introducing our speakers:

Deputy President Bernadette O'Neill 
  

Ms Bernadette O’Neill has been a Deputy President of the Fair Work Commission since 2023, and a Commissioner of the Fair Work Commission in 2021. Before then, Ms O’Neill was General Manager of the Fair Work Commission. Ms O’Neill has experience in leadership roles with Industrial Relations Victoria and with the Australian Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers Union, and has worked as an Associate with Maurice Blackburn Lawyers.


Commissioner Oanh Thi Tran               
   

Ms Oanh Thi Tran has been a Commissioner of the Fair Work Commission since 2023. She is Deputy National Practice Lead for the gig economy, assisting Vice President Ingrid Asbury as the National Practice Lead for minimum standards for regulated workers. Before the Commission, Ms Tran was Principal Solicitor at the Young Workers Centre, National Legal and Industrial Officer with the CFMEU - Manufacturing Division and Industrial Officer with the Textile Clothing and Footwear Union of Australia, Vic-Qld Branch, as well as an employment and discrimination lawyer in firms in the UK and Qld that had large unions as their clients. She started her legal career as an Associate to the Honourable Justice Roslyn-Atkinson of the Qld Supreme Court.
