The Patron’s Night Dinner immediately follows the IRSV AGM (which all members are invited to) and is a wonderful opportunity to relax amongst friends and colleagues about ‘the year that was’ over a meal and drinks.

This year we are fortunate to have Ged Kearney, President, ACTU give this year’s Patron’s Night address.

About the Speaker

Gerardine (Ged) Kearney commenced as ACTU President on 1 July 2010, and is the third woman to hold the position. Prior to her election as ACTU president, Ged was a registered nurse and an officer of the then Australian Nursing Federation for 13 years including serving as its Federal Secretary from 2008.  The topic of Ged’s speech is 'Where has the middle ground gone?'.  Ged will reflect on the shifting dynamics of the industrial relations debate that have led to perceptions about the present position and their connections to related policy areas.

About our Patron

Brian Lacy has had a longstanding relationship with IRSV including having served as our President and as President of the Australian Labour and Employment Relations Association.   Brian is a former Senior Deputy President of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission and a former Administrator for Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.  Brian currently practises at the Victorian Bar specialising in employment, industrial, anti-discrimination and administrative law.
